Creamy layer should make way for SC/ST/OBC

Reservation policy is more than half decade old. It has benefitted some under-privilaged people but a very large section of people from SC/ST/OBC categories are still waiting for some benefit to reach them. The government has failed to determine the reasons for this. They have simply gone ahead to increase the share of rerservation. Government decision is not based on facts and figures. It is just a political decision to create more vote banks and to nurture existing vote banks.

If we take out the government out of it and try to find who can be responsible for benefits not reaching all targeted needy people, then we find that few beneficiaries of reservation continue to get benefits which should have gone to those who are yet to receive any benefit. Yes, the creamy layer.

Now this additional 27% OBC quota is yet another wrong decision. Till the time this creamy layer is not removed from beneficiary list this 27% will also not reach the real needy. This additional benefit will also be grabbed by this creamy layer.

I ask this creamy layer - don't they have any moral duty to allow the reservation benefits reach the most deserving? They have already taken benefits. They are now enjoying higher and higher positions in the society. They should themselves come forward and ask the government to exclude them fron getting any reservation benefit. They also have a duty for under-privilaged. Only general category people can not be expected to make all sacrifices. And even if they continue to make scarifices then who will benefit, this creamy layer only.

Now it is the turn of creamy layer to make way for SC/ST/OBC.

I congratulate you to start this blog. I am a senior citizen and fully agree with the aim you have created this blog.

We, elders, have really failed to do our duty to our siciety and our people. I read a news yesterday - "Meira Kumar has prepared a draft bill (to be discussed & passed by cabinet), to extend quota to the children of SC/ST/OBC mothers irrespective of father's caste. There is no end in sight to extension of 'QUOTA'."

It is shameful. All elders should oppose it.

Yes, now it is the turn of creamy layer to make way for SC/ST/OBC. Take the case of Lalu Prasad, Nitish Kumar, Paswan and their likes people who have taken multiple benefits of reservation, and their children and grand-children are still getting this benefit. It is immoral. Had any of these dirty politicians given up their immoral claims on quotas so that a real needy person is benefitted?

Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar has threatened the business and industry that they must voluntarily opt for reservation and not force the Centre the use option of legislation. She said "You have to do it amicably. I am the last person to do it by legislation. Please, don't force me to a situation where we have to think of legislation. I have great regard for the captains of industry and they should do it. I think they understand their moral responsibility,"

Why this lady should not opt out of reservation and say that from now onwards her family will not take any more reservation benefits, so that some other needy family can get the beefit?

Yes, creamy layer should make way for those in SC/ST/OBC who had not yet received any benefit of reservation. These people also have a duty towards the real needy people in their respective communities. General category people have been sacrificing for last more than half decade, and till what time onlythey will be asked to make sacrifices.

In the other blog (Social Justice) an article by Kuldip Nayar has been published. It unmasks the negative side of reservation. It is shocking to know that children of the late President K.R. Narayanan had the best of education abroad but still his daughter got into the Foreign Service through the Dalit quota. If such people continue grabbing the benefits of reservation then till eternity benefits of reservation will not reach the real needy.

The elders in these families should immediately announce that they will no more apply for reservation benefits. It would have been better if a law was made for it but the govt is agianst it for its own dirty compulsions.

These politicians are only interested in vote bank politics. None of them are really interested in well being of SC. ST and OBC people. So far, not even a single leader has come out in open and declared that he or she and their children will no more take benefits of reservation.

I belong to SC category and a senior citizen now. Reservation helped me to overcome my family backwardness and provided me a level playing field. After that it was my duty to provide a level playing field to my children. I an thankful to God that He gave me strength to do that. None of my children took any quota benefit.
